What’s Been Happening at Xóots Elementary
It has been a wonderful start to the new year at Xóots Elementary, filled with connection, creativity, and continued growth for our students and staff.
We recently enjoyed a well-attended Family Advisory Meeting, where families came together for thoughtful conversation and learning. Topics included class placement, the importance of healthy sleep routines for children, and early planning for our Spring Carnival. We are so grateful for the strong partnership we share with our families and truly value the time spent learning together. Our next Family Advisory Meeting is scheduled for February 19th at 8:00 a.m., and we hope to see many families there!
Our students are also experiencing something special this month through an Artist-in-Residence partnership with Sitka Fine Arts Camp. Through improv and creative movement integrated into PE and music classes, students are strengthening their social skills, creativity, and confidence—while having a whole lot of fun.
Across the school, staff continue to focus on strengthening our schoolwide expectations—Be Safe, Be Kind, and Be Respectful—as we work together to create a positive, supportive learning environment for every child. These shared expectations help guide our daily routines and support students in developing strong social-emotional skills.
Looking ahead, we are excitedly planning our Spring Carnival, which will be our big family celebration and fundraiser of the year. There will be games, laughter, and lots of opportunities for families to volunteer and be part of the fun. More details and volunteer sign-ups will be coming soon!
Thank you to our students, families, and staff for making Xóots Elementary such a joyful and caring place to learn and grow. We are proud of our school community and look forward to all that’s ahead.
